WebJan 10, 2024 · #1 So I'm picking up a used PRS SE custom 22 semi hollow - old style with the cats eye sound hole - with the intent of swapping out the stock pickups with a filtertron style pickup of some flavor. Really looking for a classic filtertron sound so high output is not required, more of a vintage flavor.

WebSep 12, 2011 · FilterTrons are essentially low-output humbuckers, which sport taller/narrower coils than their more traditional Gibson-style cousins. Tall, narrower coils (e.g. Strat pickups) sport better high-frequency response, because the magnetic field reaches all the way to the outer windings of the coils. WebHow high? Filter’Trons are extremely sensitive to height settings. TV Jones recommends 5/32 inches (4mm) between the top of the cover and the bottom of the E strings on the bridge pickup. For the neck, it’s between 3/16 inches (4.7mm) and 7/32 inches (5.55mm) on the bass side of the neck and 3/16 inches (4.7mm) on the treble side.
