The organization she led for nearly a decade was once the Aiken County, South Carolina, Society for Crippled Children in the 1950s – an Easterseals in its former life – before expanding its offerings. WebDr. Miles was born with Spina Bifida and raised in Wister Town Houses, a predominately black housing complex for low-income families in Germantown Philadelphia, PA. She grew up playing with the neighborhood children and attended schools and camps for children with disabilities including Easter Seals, Widener Memorial School and Variety Club.
